What are the symptoms of ordinary motor running in the plateau environment?
High altitude environment, low air pressure, lack of oxygen, high cold, temperature difference, sand, the ventilation and heat dissipation conditions of the motor, insulation and protection are extremely harsh test. The following three aspects should be noted:
(1) The higher the altitude, the greater the temperature rise of the motor and the smaller the output power. But when the temperature decreases with the rise of altitude enough to compensate for the effect of altitude on temperature rise, the rated output power of the motor can be unchanged;
(2) High-voltage motors should take anti-corona measures when used in the plateau;
(3) altitude is unfavorable to DC motor commutation, pay attention to the choice of carbon brush material.

Plateau motor: refers to the use of places higher than 1000 meters above sea level motor. Refers to the national industry standard: JB/T7573-94 plateau environmental conditions under the general technical conditions of electrical products plateau motor and many levels: they are not more than 2000 meters, 3000 meters, 4000 meters, 5000 meters.
Plateau motor operating at high altitude, due to low air pressure, poor heat dissipation conditions, and loss will increase, the operating efficiency is reduced. Therefore, the rated electromagnetic load and heat dissipation design of the same motor operating at different altitudes are different. If the motor is not of high altitude, it is better to reduce the load appropriately. Otherwise, the life and performance of the motor will be affected and even burned up in a short time.
4、What measures should be taken for the adverse effect of plateau on motor operation?
1, the air medium cooling effect is reduced, the cooling capacity decreases, the temperature rise increases, every 1000M, the temperature rise to increase 3-10%, so to amend the temperature rise limit.
2, high altitude, the greater the temperature rise of the motor, the smaller the output power. But when the temperature decreases with the rise in altitude enough to compensate for the effect of altitude on temperature rise, the rated output power of the motor can be unchanged;
3, the corona starting voltage is reduced, high voltage motors used in the plateau to take anti-corona measures,;
4, altitude is not good for DC motor commutation, pay attention to the choice of carbon brush material.
5, caused by the reduction of insulation strength: every 1000 meters higher, insulation strength to reduce 8-15%.
6, the breakdown voltage of the electrical gap decreases, so the electrical gap should be increased accordingly according to the altitude size.
